What is Fear? Book 1
Run home, Special. You're next.
Family torn apart at a young age, Tegan Zade knows her life is anything but ordinary. So she isn't surprised when the military paints a target on her back because she's something called a "Special". That's what happened to her brother. What does surprise her, however, is that it isn't the military knocking on her door. It's three people, dressed head to toe in black, claiming to be a part of an underground rebel group called Phantom Operations.
And they're here to rescue her.
Tossed into a world rebellion and chaos, Tegan doesn't know who to trust. Can she trust this new group of friends, or will she go running to the people she fears the most?

PrologueI know it’s the end of the world when five black trucks pull up in front of our house. I peer through a crack in the closed curtains, watching in awe.
Camilla sits beside me, leaning against the wall. Her blonde hair is messy today, covering her face. Mommy must have forgotten to braid it. Camilla doesn’t look as fascinated as I am. She’s only four, and it’s okay to be scared at four. But I’m eight. I’m not scared. |
Scene from Chapter 1 I start to ask Camilla how her day went, but I don’t get the chance. Maev is home.
I’ve told Camilla before that the only reason Father married Maev was because she went through the same thing he did. Her daughter was taken away, her spouse killed. There’s absolutely nothing interesting about her at all. She has dull brown hair, lifeless eyes, and no thoughts of her own. She gets everything she says either from work or from the news. And she works for the government. “Hello, Tegan!” she says in a sing-song voice as she closes the door behind her. She drops her bag on the table and collapses into her chair with a sigh. “Busy day at work today.” She says that every day. |
What is Failure? Book 2
Gunshot.
Gunshot.
Scream.
It's the same every time Tegan Zade closes her eyes.
She failed... she made a mistake that she can't ever undo.
But she can try to make it right.
Phantom Operations is under attack from the inside. Will they flush out the mole before it's too late? Or will they be destroyed by those they once called friends?

Scene from Chapter 1
I’m not the type of girl who gets creeped out by empty hallways, but I have goosebumps on my arms anyways. Honestly, I’m not 100% sure if it’s the cold that’s causing them.
Phantom is always so noisy and crowded that I didn’t think there would be a place as quiet as this. The only thing I can hear echoing through the dark-grey stone tunnels is the hum of the air circulation system. I can’t tell if it’s the silence, the cold, or the fact that I’m surrounded by Phantom’s buried dead that makes me feel so uncomfortable. This is the Hall of Valor—the home of all Specials who gave their life in service defending Phantom and what it stands for. It’s nothing big, just a branch off of the main tunnel that dead ends. The walls are lined with square, smooth tiles of stone—some are blank, most have names etched into them. A few light-bulbs hang from the cave ceiling, lighting the tunnel up enough to read the walls. Reaching out, I run my fingers over her name, freshly engraved into the stone slab. As my fingers touch the sharp edges of the first letter, I flinch, hearing the gunshot again. I jerk my hand away, biting my lip. I know the gun is just in my head, but it sounds so real. |
What is Freedom? Book 3
Tegan Zade is tired--tired of the fear, tired of the failures, tired of the pain and suffering she has had to endure. Her sister is gone. Her friends have betrayed her. When will she be free?
Phantom Operations is no longer safe. Who can Tegan trust? With visions of her past haunting her, can she even trust herself?

Scene from Chapter 1
I didn’t know it was possible to be both alive and dead at the same time. Dead because I can’t move, can’t breathe, alive because I can feel everything. Like metal ripping through my muscles, like rocks pounding against my skin, like every nerve in my body is on fire, all I can do is feel.
It could have been seconds, could have been weeks, trapped in this state of not knowing, only feeling. There are moments of piercing light and deafening noise, and times where I think I’m close to escaping. Finally, the pain fades, leaving me with an overwhelming numbness. I open my eyes. Ceiling above me, with bright LED lights. So… not dead. That’s good, that’s good. Then… where am I? Attempting to sit up, I gasp in pain. I move my hand to my side, but something tugs at my arm. That’s when I notice the IVs. And the hospital gown. |
